What does a Virtual Assistant do?

The number of companies working in the online business is growing enormously every day. The companies will be so big in no time that they will call in the help of a virtual assistant.

But what does a virtual assistant actually do?

A virtual assistant is an independent entrepreneur who supports another entrepreneur in his or her company.

A virtual assistant takes a lot of work off the hands of the entrepreneur.

It’s possible that the virtual assistant is specialized in a certain part of the business. Think of Social Media Marketing, Email Marketing, personal assistance, web design or processing orders at a webshop.

Often a virtual assistant works from home and with today’s online communication it’s no longer necessary to meet each other at a workplace.

As an online entrepreneur you learn a lot and if you make yourself an expert in a certain area, you can help many entrepreneurs with your expertise as a virtual assistant.

What are the advantages for an entrepreneur to use a Virtual Assistant?

  1. They save time and you can do other important tasks in your business.
  2. They buy in knowledge that they sometimes lack.
  3. They hire someone who is also an entrepreneur and who can think along with the business at an equivalent level. That is extremely valuable for both entrepreneurs. The Virtual Assistant often has a helicopter view.
  4. They don’t need extra office space and inventory.
  5. They are not at great financial risk because the Virtual Assistant often works on a freelance basis.
  6. The Virtual Assistant spends her hours more effectively because he or she has little distraction. He or she works in their own environment and can organize his or her hours themselves. Of course in consultation.
  7. The entrepreneurs get more structure and overview in their business. It’s not without reason that they say that the best helmsmen are ashore. There is an important role for the Virtual Assistant.
  8. By using a VA, they get more continuity in the execution of the work.
  9. They hire a Virtual Assistant for only a few hours a week, so the threshold is low to hire a virtual assistant. This allows them to grow their business faster.

A number of options that you as a Virtual Assistant can specialize in.

1. Social Media Assistant

Many entrepreneurs no longer see how to approach hat due to the many Social Media platforms with the many possibilities. Where do you start and what steps are needed to properly set up your company with Social Media? You as a Social Media Assistant know this exactly. You know where which target group is and what content you place on which Social Media channel.

2. Web design

When I had been struggling with my first blog for a while and it was not to my liking, I hired someone for the website. It would have saved me real blood, sweat and tears if I had done that before. I really advise you not to worry too long about this if you can’t figure it out (on the other hand I have learned a lot over the years and fortunately I can now make my websites myself) a choice…

3. Editor

As a blog editor you can check the blog posts of the entrepreneur for spelling and grammar errors and further develop the text so that it can be placed on the website. As a blog editor you can easily get started with SEO and ensure that the blog posts get high in the search engines.

4. Personal Assistant

A Personal Assistant is actually a handyman. He or she does all kinds of tasks that can relieve the entrepreneur. This can often also be things that have nothing to do with the company, but that give the entrepreneur enough time to start his or her company. For assisting in the company you can think of, for example, answering emails, responding to comments, keep an agenda and make a schedule.

Hopefully, with this blog post, I have given you a better picture of the Virtual Assistant and have given you ideas to continue with this.

I hope you can find a way to earn extra money as a Virtual Assistant.

Find a part-time job to earn extra money.

There are many part-time jobs that you can do next to your current (full-time or part-time) job. That way you also get extra money.

Go help with fireworks during the Christmas holidays. They often ask extra staff for this because of the busy days. They are temporary jobs, but often deserve fun and money.

A part-time job in the summer. Go to a beach tent or a terrace to see if they can use extra help in the service or the kitchen. At a local pool, they also need extra help in the summer when the outdoor pool is open.

Behind the bar at a restaurant, bar or other entertainment venue. Working hours are often on weekends and in the evenings, so they can often be combined with another full-time job.

Hostess or host in a restaurant. You receive the guests and guide them to their table, clean up, and make sure everything runs smoothly for the guests. A nice job to earn extra money.

On-call teacher. Raids for teachers who are sick or on leave.

Another form of catering with which you can earn extra money is in a hotel or holiday park. Various functions are available, both for seasonal work and throughout the year.

Working in a store. There are several functions to work in a store. As a seller, filler or cashier. You can often work enough hours there and you earn good money. In addition, you often get a discount on the products.

Tour guide. Do you like to go abroad then tour guide may be something for you. Ask travel companies if it’s possible that you can work in another country for a summer. A nice experience and you earn something with it.

Work at a swimming pool as a lifeguard, keep a private pool clean or keep an eye on safety at a water park in a holiday park.

Guiding in the gym. You can follow a training for this, but often without a diploma you can already do all kinds of work in a gym. Often you also get a discount for yourself if you want to exercise, which is also a bonus.

Deliver newspapers. The side job that many young people have done or are still doing. Deliver newspapers and / or folders. A nice merit and you can also organize your own time.

There are also flower / plant auctions or vegetables / fruit auctions where you can work. Many part-timers are requested because it is often seasonal work.

They can often use some help on the farm. Just visit a few farms and see what you can do there.

Personal assistant. This profession is increasingly emerging. You can help someone with administration, groceries, food, household chores and appointment planning. A nice job with a lot of variety.

Private help for people with disabilities. Think of shopping, taking care of meals and participation. A nice job in which you can mean a lot to someone.

Figurant. Do you like to be seen in a series or movie? You can register as an extra, you get paid for this and you also have a nice experience.

Earn money online.

Making money online is no longer new, but there are still people who have no idea how to use it.

The best part is that you can do it wherever you want. At home behind the laptop, on vacation or wherever you are.

You can work anywhere online nowadays.

If you are good with the English language, you can become a blog editor. You check the blogs for spelling mistakes and grammar. A nice extra income.

Many people still struggle to find a job. It often turns out that their C.V. is out of order or looks sloppy. You can help others with their C.V. get it in order. Offer yourself online.

Are you good at creating content for social media? Then there is a lot of work to be found here. Many companies are looking for people who manage social media for them and if you are known in the social media world and you manage the steps you need to take to reach the customer, they are certainly waiting for you.

If you have a lot of knowledge about building websites, you can help companies / entrepreneurs with their website. Entrepreneurs pay for this and you can really earn good money if you put yourself on the map.

Freelance writing. Many online businesses use freelance writers to put a piece of text on their website. That way they don’t have to write everything themselves. You can sell articles about certain topics that you know about, for example to blogs or informative websites.

Virtual assistants are increasingly requested by internet entrepreneurs. They take a lot of work off your hands, so the entrepreneur only wants to focus on those things that are important to him or her. There are various tasks you can get, answering emails, keeping an appointment calendar, organizational tasks, addressing customers and the like. A varied job that can earn fun.

Completing surveys. There are many companies that pay for surveys. Several can be found on the internet. You don’t always get paid in money, but often in products. This differs per website.

Create an online program to help your customers. Here you can earn a nice income. If you know a lot about something, you can share this information with your customers that way.

Selling stuff.

There are many ways to get extra money. Likewise by selling objects. We all have some stuff lying around in the house or in cupboards that we no longer use. Get rid of it!

Sell your stuff on marketplace. Everyone knows the website and you can often lose some of your stuff.

Various sales groups can be found on Facebook. Many have been set up from a specific region. It’s easier to sell something in your own region, because people come to you faster to pick up something. Collecting and paying right away is a great option. You are less likely not to receive your money or the product.

EBAY. Another way to sell your stuff is through EBAY. You have a global reach and are therefore more likely to sell your product.

Selling to thrift stores. Not all thrift stores pay for your stuff, but they are there. If you really have items that are of value, such as old items and antiques, then the shop owner wants to give them something for that.

Sell your clothes to a second-hand clothing store. We have one around here and she takes clothes twice a year, winter and summer clothes, and she sells them in her shop. Half of the proceeds go to the customer who brings the clothes and the other half to her. A good concept that really works.

Selling through a flea market or trunk sale. It can be an easy way to get rid of your belongings and earn an extra penny. Do not expect large amounts for it, because people try to pay as little as possible. But I always say every little bit helps.

Sell your old books. Often we have quite a lot of books that we have already read. Then they are dusted in the closet or attic.

If you have discount coupons for a day out, a day at the sauna and you are not going to use them, then sell these coupons. For a little less than the discount you have an extra and the person who purchases it’s a nice discount.

If you have any homemade stuff you would like to sell, do so via Etsy. This is a website where these products can be found. Hobby stuff, vintage and flea market, homemade items and more things like that can be found there.

I know someone who sells meals. She cooks a little extra and via Facebook she puts a message down and you can pick it up at her place. So… cook and sell food!

Think about starting an online store. You can sell both second-hand items and new items. Here you have all the options.

Earn extra money with your current job.

You can always check where you can find opportunities to earn extra money within your current job.

Dare to ask! Ask for a pay raise. This is one of the best ways to generate extra money, because the work remains the same and you don’t have to spend extra time on it.

If a promotion is possible within the company where you work, take it with both hands. The hourly wages will also rise as a result.

Ask if there is an opportunity to work more hours. This creates more income for yourself. If overtime has to be worked, take it with both hands.

Develop. Ask the company where you work about the possibilities for further development. The company often pays for the course and you learn something new. This gives you more opportunities on the labor market and on a promotion.

Earn extra money by renting out.

There are many things you may be able to rent to others. This is a way that many people would not think of quickly, but this is also a good way to make money.

Do you have a garage and don’t use it at all or you have space left? Then rent the space so that people have a good place for their belongings. For example, someone could park a car in it. So you don’t have to do much to earn extra money.

If you have your own parking space and do not use it, you can rent it out to someone who is short of a place in your area. This way you also have extra income.

If you have an extra room, rent it out. You can register via Airbnb, this is a site where you can find and register a room.

Rent out the car. If you do not always need your car, you can rent it out. You can rent the car for a short or long term. Make sure the insurance is in order. Think carefully if you just want to let everyone drive your car.

Rent products that belong to certain party occasions. Think of a stork in the garden or rusk with mice on the door at a birth or party items when someone turns 50 or decorations that belong to a wedding. People do not have to purchase this for one-time use.

Other ways to make money.

Beyond the categories I just discussed, there are other ways to make extra money.

Place ads on your car, there are companies that pay you to put an ad on your car. If there is room on your car and you don’t mind placing an ad, check it out! It is still a fixed amount per month.

Invest. There are no guarantees when it comes to investing, but there are people who have a feeling for it. If you have time to delve into this and know what to bet on then it can be quite rewarding.

One loves them, the other finds them annoying. Participate in all giveaways that you come across. You will probably have a price. The disadvantage is that they often want a lot of information from you, which is something that not everyone is waiting for.

Recycling is something you should do as much as possible. You save a lot of money with this and you save money again. Besides that, people sometimes make the best things and then sell them at flea markets and online.

Write a book or articles for magazines or newspapers. Columns and blogs are very popular.

Buying and selling. There are people who really make a lot of money buying stuff at flea markets and thrift stores and then selling it for a little more. It is an intensive activity, but the money you have left over can add up considerably.

What other ways to make extra money are there?

If you know one that’s not on this list, tell me!

Set up Google Analytics and link it to your WordPress website.

Statistics

The moment you start a blog, webshop or other website, you naturally want to know whether your website is also being visited. By viewing your website statistics, you have the information you need.

Why would you want to view the statistics?

  • You can see how many visitors have been to your website.
  • You can see which posts and pages they have visited.
  • You can see where your visitors come from.
  • You can see how many page views there have been.
  • You can see how long someone is online on average.
  • You can see through which traffic channels your visitors come to your website.
  • You can see at what times your visitors come to your website.

You may wonder at first what you should do with this information, but you can get valuable information from it.

Example 1

Suppose you are going to look at the group of visitors who have come to your website via social media. Suppose that for the most part your visitors come to your website via Pinterest and Facebook, then you could consider sharing more messages and other social media channels less. You can conclude that your target audience is then on Pinterest and Facebook.

You can also turn it around and think that you may have to post more on the other channels in order to reach more people on those other channels. It is a matter of trying, but you do get your information from Google Analytics.

It’s just important to know what your numbers look like so you can anticipate that.

Example 2

Another example is that by viewing your statistics you can clearly see which messages or pages are visited the most. If you have a number of messages on a certain topic and they are often read, you can write more about this.

This way you can work with your website in a targeted manner by regularly checking your Google Analytics page.

Google Analytics cannot just show your statistics. You will have to take a number of steps for this. You are going to link Google Analytics to your website, otherwise Google can never show your data. I explain the steps for you below so that you can start right away.

Step 1 Create a Google account.

Go to the Google Analytics website and click at the top right to get started for free so that you can create an account. To create a Google account you need a Google account (Gmail, Google+ account or Youtube account). If you have created the account or if you already have an account, you can log in now.

Step 2. Create a Google Analytics account for your website.

Once you are logged in, Google will ask you to create an account for your website.

Enter the following information:

  • Account name: Enter the name of your website or a general name like My websites (for if you want to link multiple websites)
  • Website name: Enter the name of the website you want to link here.
  • Website URL: the URL of your website. For example: www.abcdefgh.com
  • Branch category: You can enter your branche here. You can also fill in others if you find it difficult to make a choice.
  • Time zone: Just where you are.

Data sharing settings: Do you want Google to have access to your data? Make your choice.

Step 3. Google Tracking ID

You will then arrive at the Tracking ID. Save the code somewhere or leave the page open. You will need the code later. This code ensures that the data from your website is sent to Google Analytics. You can also find it at the top of your website data.

Step 4. Link Google Analytics to your WordPress website.

Log in to your WordPress website. You will place the code on your website.

You can do this in two ways. You can process the code in the html file of your header (just above </head>) or we can use a plugin that does that for us.

It’s best to use the plugin, because it’s a bit easier for beginners.

  • In the WordPress menu go to Plugins and click on “New plugin”.
  • Search in the search bar (top right) for “Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights”.
  • Click on “Install Now”.
  • Then click on “Activate now”.

Link Google Analytics byMonsterInsights

You can find MonsterInsights’ Google Analytics plugin at the bottom of the menu. You should see a new menu item called “Insights”. Click on that.

Then click Settings or settings in the drop-down menu below.

You can link the plugin – and thus WordPress – in two ways with Google Analytics.

You can enter the UA code manually Or you can link your account on Authenticate with your Google account.

In the first way you place the code from step 3.

In the second way, click on: Authenticate with your Google account. You can select your account and Google will automatically connect to your Google account. You get a few questions that Google asks you for permission, you can give permission for this or not, that’s up to you.

After these steps you will see on screen:

Congratulations! You are now connected with MonsterInsights. We make it effortless for you to implement Google Analytics tracking and see the stats that matter, right inside the WordPress dashboard. View reports. (Link to statistics)

Congratulations, you did it!
